1. Home remedies: vinegar + lemon
Vinegar and lemon are the perfect mixtures to clean your makeup brushes. To do this, add two tablespoons of white vinegar to a cup of hot water. Then dip your brushes in the cup and swirl them around a bit, then rinse with lukewarm water. To counteract the somewhat unpleasant smell of vinegar, we then rub the brushes against a lemon – that’s it!
2. Household remedy: washing-up liquid
After all, we also trust our dishwashing liquid to remove the dirt on our kitchen dishes. Therefore, it is also suitable for cleaning our supplies. Wet your brushes under lukewarm water and put a little dish soap on them. Then you can gently massage the dishwashing liquid into the brush bristles. You will immediately be able to determine the degree of soiling from the discolouration of the foam. Then rinse the brush thoroughly and let it air dry.
PS: Make sure that you only hold the bristles under the running water when washing; otherwise, the handle can detach from the brush head.
3. Home remedies: baby shampoo
Our parents’ baby shampoo to wash us as children is suitable for sensitive baby skis and makeup brushes. The handling as a brush cleaner is the same as with the detergent.
4. Home remedy: Olive oil
Best used with smaller makeup brushes, olive oil works as a mild cleanser and as a conditioner. Dip your encounter in a small bowl of olive oil and massage it into the bristles on a sponge or with your fingers under running water. To clean the brushes even more thoroughly, whisk a small amount of shampoo with olive oil.
5. Home remedy: apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is considered a real all-rounder in the household. It can be used for everything from salad dressing to face lifting. So it’s no wonder that makeup brushes can also be cleaned with this miracle product. Mix a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a bowl of warm water and clean the brushes the same way as in the vinegar + lemon home remedy instructions. You can also use lemons here to get rid of the apple cider vinegar scent faster.
